Thread Engagement

  • • 75% thread engagement is standard for most applications
  • • 60% engagement acceptable for soft materials
  • • 85% engagement for high-strength applications
  • • Use cutting fluid for better surface finish

Tapping Tips

  • • Start tap perpendicular to surface
  • • Use tapping guide for precision
  • • Back out 1/2 turn every 2 full turns
  • • Chamfer hole entrance for easier starting
